One evening, three Da Nang backdrops: sand, ballroom, river
Da Nang is the one Vietnamese city where a gala can sit on a beach, inside a purpose-built ballroom or on a rooftop above a lit-up river, all within fifteen minutes of each other. Choosing between them is the decision that shapes the rest of the evening's budget.

Where a Da Nang gala can actually happen
The city's beachfront resorts run from the Son Tra end of My Khe down to Non Nuoc, and most of them hold both a stretch of sand they can close for an evening and a ballroom large enough to move the same dinner indoors. On the other side of the Han River the hotel rooftops and riverside terraces look straight at the Dragon Bridge, which breathes fire at nine on weekend nights — a free piece of production if the run of show is timed for it.
| Setting | Typical venues | Sweet spot | What it gives you | What it costs you |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Beach | Resort beach fronts along My Khe and Non Nuoc | 60 - 200 guests, February to August | The photographs everyone takes home; sunset as the opening act | Decking, power, wind screens and a second venue held indoors |
| Ballroom | The large beachfront ballrooms; Ariyana Convention Centre for the biggest groups | Any size, any month | Certainty, long awards content, a rig that can be built the day before | Less memorable unless the design does the work |
| River rooftop or terrace | Han River hotels and rooftop bars | 60 - 180 guests | The skyline, the bridges, a change of scene after two beach days | Transfers, a second setup, and a curfew on amplified sound |
Sand from February to August for groups up to about 200, with the ballroom contracted and held, not merely identified. Ballroom whenever the awards segment runs past twenty-five minutes or the group is bigger than the beach. River when the group is 60 to 180 and has already had two evenings by the sea; on a Friday or Saturday we time the toast for the bridge.
The production we bring, and the three lines briefs forget
Da Nang has its own production companies with stages, LED walls and lighting in stock, which is a real advantage over island destinations where every rig arrives by ferry. Full production for us means a stage built to the room, a backdrop sized to that stage rather than a standard panel, an LED wall for award graphics and video, a lighting plot that lights faces for the camera, distributed sound with a spare radio microphone, a bilingual MC who has rehearsed your names, a band or DJ with an agreed set, and photography planned around the lighting rather than fighting it.
Rehearsal: the space for at least three hours beforehand, written into the hotel contract. Beverage: a bar package or a consumption estimate, because it is the line most Vietnamese corporate galas under-budget. Turnaround: if the ballroom hosted the afternoon session, the flip takes three to four hours and belongs in the agenda.
An awards segment that keeps a room
- Twenty-five minutes, no more. After dinner and two drinks the attention span of any audience is fixed, however important the content.
- Batch the small awards four at a time; a dozen single walk-ups burn the whole slot on their own.
- Biggest award second to last, then something that lifts the room so the segment ends on energy.
- Brief every recipient on where to walk and where to exit before the dinner starts.
- Rehearse the gaps: the transitions between items are where evenings overrun, not the speeches.
What a Da Nang gala costs
| Guests | Meal and service per person, USD | Production, fixed, USD | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20 - 49 | 48 - 88 | 1,200 - 2,800 | Production dominates; a good dinner with lighting often beats a stage |
| 50 - 99 | 44 - 80 | 1,900 - 4,400 | Beach becomes worth the setup |
| 100 - 199 | 40 - 74 | 2,900 - 7,400 | Full rig, larger power draw |
| 200 and up | Quoted | Quoted | Ballroom or convention centre |
Meal figures include service and VAT; production covers stage, backdrop, LED, lighting, sound, MC and entertainment. Drinks are quoted separately because consumption varies more between groups than any other line.

Questions travellers ask most
When is the beach-or-ballroom decision made?
Four hours before the first guest is due, against the rain radar and the wind reading at the beach. That leaves enough time to set the ballroom and start on time. Any later and the fallback exists only on paper.
Can the gala use the Dragon Bridge show?
Yes, if the dinner is on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday and the venue is on the river. The fire-and-water show starts at 21:00 and lasts about fifteen minutes; we write the run of show so the group is on the terrace with a glass in hand when it begins.
Is amplified sound allowed on the beach?
With a permit and a curfew. We file the application, which needs roughly four weeks, and we put the loud part of the evening early. The same applies to rooftops above residential streets.
Who provides the MC?
We do: bilingual Vietnamese and English, briefed on your company, your award categories and how to pronounce every name on the list. A mispronounced name is the fastest way to flatten an awards evening.
