Three destinations, one hour apart
The single structural advantage this region holds over every island destination in Vietnam: a beach, a UNESCO old town and a mountain complex, all within an hour's drive of each other and of the airport. Used well, that means a three-day programme with three different scenes.

The geography, in numbers
| From | To | Drive | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Airport | City centre and Han River | ~15 minutes | The airport sits inside the city |
| Airport | My Khe and Non Nuoc beach strip | 20 - 30 minutes | Where most 120-plus programmes are based |
| Beach strip | Hoi An old town | ~45 minutes | Coastal road, straightforward for coaches |
| Beach strip | Ba Na Hills | ~45 minutes | Then the cable car up |
| Beach strip | Marble Mountains | ~10 minutes | Useful half-day filler |
| Beach strip | Son Tra peninsula | ~20 minutes | Scenic road, good for a short morning |
| Airport | Hoi An | ~45 minutes | If the group is based in the old town |
Nothing on that list costs a day. That is the whole argument, and it is why a three-night programme here can do what a four-night programme has to do elsewhere.
When to visit each, and why it matters
Early morning or after 17:30
The old town is at its best at either end of the day. Between 10:00 and 16:00 in high season it is hot and crowded, and a group routed through then spends the visit queuing.
The lantern floating at dusk is the single most photographed element of most programmes here.
Start early, finish by lunch
The cable car queue and the cloud both build through the morning. A 07:30 departure from the beach gets the group up before either.
Cable car suspends in high wind, so this morning needs its own fallback.
Before 10:00 or after 15:30
Team building on the sand in the middle of a May afternoon is a bad idea. Schedule around the heat rather than through it.
Evening
The Han River bridges, the rooftop venues and the night market. Useful as a low-cost evening that needs no production.
Where to base the group
| Base | Best for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Beach strip, My Khe to Non Nuoc | 120-plus delegates, beach gala, large conference | 45 minutes to Hoi An, 20-30 to the airport |
| Han River, city centre | Conference-weighted programmes, evening options off-property | No beach on the doorstep |
| Hoi An | Under 120, experience-led programmes | Smaller ballrooms, 45-minute airport transfer at each end |
| Split: conference in Da Nang, last night in Hoi An | Programmes that want both | One extra check-in and a luggage move; only worth it from four nights |
It sounds attractive and it works, but it costs a morning and adds a second check-in for the whole group. We would only propose it for a four or five-night programme, and only when the Hoi An nights are the point rather than a nice extra.
A three-day programme that uses all three
| Day | Scene | Shape |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Da Nang | Arrivals in waves, check-in, half-day conference, gala and awards at the hotel |
| 2 | Beach then Hoi An | Morning team building on the sand, afternoon rest, old town from 16:00, lantern floating, dinner in the town |
| 3 | Ba Na or free | Early departure for Ba Na and back by lunch, or a free morning, then departure waves |
Full inclusions and the hour-by-hour version are on the packages page.

Two, three or four nights each produce a different use of the three scenes. We will propose the shape rather than a menu.
Questions travellers ask most
Can we do Hoi An and Ba Na on the same day?
We would advise against it. Ba Na needs a morning and Hoi An needs an evening, and stacking both means a twelve-hour day with two long transfers in between. Groups that try it remember the bus rather than either destination.
Is Hoi An suitable for a large group?
For an evening, yes, up to about 200 with restaurant buy-outs and staged return waves. As a base, the practical ceiling is lower, because Hoi An ballrooms run 200 to 500 m² rather than the 900 m² available on the Da Nang beach strip.
What about Hue?
About two hours by road through the Hai Van tunnel. It is a genuine destination but it costs a day, and for a three-night programme that day is better spent on Hoi An or Ba Na.
Do we need a coach for every movement?
For the group, yes, and the vehicle count follows the 45-seat threshold. For leadership or a separate executive track we would quote a dedicated vehicle, which is one of the items most often left out of a brief.
