The city runs a MICE programme. Most groups never apply

Da Nang operates a dedicated MICE promotion programme with support measures for organisers and groups, alongside a stimulus package and, for the first time, a city MICE award. It is administrative work rather than a discount you negotiate, which is precisely why groups miss it.

What the programme is

The city runs the scheme through 2026 as part of a wider tourism stimulus, with the stated aim of drawing around 93,000 MICE arrivals across the year. In the first five months of 2026 the city hosted 101 MICE groups, which gives a sense of the volume the scheme is built around.

The support measures are administered by the city and its tourism department rather than by hotels, so they sit outside whatever you negotiate with a property. That is the important structural point: this is additional to your commercial terms, not instead of them.

What we can and cannot say about it

The specific measures, thresholds and the value of what is offered are set by the city and change between programme years. We tell you what currently applies to your group size and dates at quote stage, with the source, rather than publishing figures on a page that will be out of date. Any operator quoting you a fixed support amount from a web page is describing last year's scheme.

How the application works

  1. At proposal stage we check whether the group's size, duration and dates fall inside the current criteria.
  2. We prepare the application with the programme detail, headcount and hotel confirmations the city requires.
  3. We file it on the group's behalf and track the response, rather than handing you a form.
  4. You are told the outcome in writing, whether it succeeds or not, before the programme runs.
  5. Documentation from the programme — attendance list, photographs, the final account — is prepared in the format the city asks for, which also happens to be the format your own internal audit wants.

Why operators skip it

It is unpaid administrative work with no commission attached, it requires a relationship with the city tourism department, and it takes time that an operator based in Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi would rather spend selling. None of those are good reasons from the client's side of the table.

We file it because we are based here, because the paperwork is a morning rather than a week for someone who has done it before, and because a group that gets it comes back.

What it is not

A discount on our quote

The support scheme is a city measure. Our rates are our rates; anything the city provides is additional to them and is passed through in full.

What it is not

Guaranteed

Criteria and budgets are set annually and can be exhausted. We will tell you the current position rather than promise an outcome.

What it is

Worth the paperwork

For a group of any size the application costs you nothing beyond providing the detail you have already given us.

What else the city does that affects your programme

  • Event calendar. Da Nang runs major city events in the summer months, which is part of why June and July are the expensive, crowded window. Worth checking against your dates before fixing them.
  • A first city MICE award. Introduced in 2026, recognising operators and groups. Relevant mainly as a signal of how seriously the city treats this segment.
  • Route development. The city actively courts new regional air routes, which is the change that most affects international groups over a two or three year horizon.
  • Stimulus offers. A broad package of offers across attractions and services runs alongside the MICE scheme; where an element of your programme is covered, we apply it.

We file the application for you

Send the brief and we will tell you at proposal stage whether the group qualifies under the current criteria.

Common questions

Questions travellers ask most

Does the city support programme reduce what we pay you?

No. It is a city measure and is additional to our commercial terms. Anything provided under it is passed through to the group in full; we charge nothing for preparing or filing the application.

Can we apply ourselves?

An organiser can, though the process assumes a local point of contact and documentation in the city's format. If you would rather handle it in-house we will give you what we have and stay out of the way.

Is it worth it for a group of 30?

Often, yes, and it costs you nothing to find out. Criteria vary by programme year and are not always weighted to large groups.

How current is the information on this page?

It reflects the position as at September 2026. Because the scheme is set annually, we verify the current criteria at quote stage rather than relying on this page, and we tell you the source.
